Frequently Asked Questions

What is a student feedback platform?

A student feedback platform is a management information system for educational institutions to collect and manage student data. Student Feedback Systems are used to track and monitor student well-being, student engagement and build reports and analytics on the collected student feedback.

Student Feedback Systems are often offering both a solution for student surveys/questionnaires, and a dashboard with analytics, insight and statistics of student data. The collected feedback and the reports are often used by teachers, student unions, management and quality management to understand, improve and support the student journey at a University, College, High School, boarding school or any other educational institution.

What is the price for the StudentPulse student feedback platform?

The price for the student feedback platform is based on the amount of students you are planning to use the platform for. You pay a yearly license fee to get access to the platform, which includes all features on the platform and unlimited student surveys during the academic year.
The yearly license fee starts from €595 with a small number of students. If you want an estimate on your individual yearly license fee, try our license calculator here!

What are student microsurveys?

Student microsurveys are designed to divide student evaluations and course evaluations into smaller surveys that cover elements and topics of the current student journey step a student is experiencing. Instead of asking all questions at the end of a course/semester, you can use student microsurveys to get feedback continuously throughout the course/semester.

This method has proven to be effective for response rates and student satisfaction, as the surveys are designed to get students current feedback, and it enables the institution to make adjustments to the student journey during the course/semester.

What questions can you ask students in a student survey?

What student survey questions should be asked? This is a common question when finding effective ways to make student surveys. Often you can focus too much on the questions, and not the relevance of them, which is why It’s important to consider when you are asking questions. As an example, if you are asking questions about the first weeks of the school year, you want to only include questions that are relevant for this period. Students' motivation to answer surveys is increased when the questions they are being asked are relevant to their current situation. Most often, we speak with institutions that are good at defining the survey purpose (“the why”), but haven't put much thought into the colleagues expected to use the results (“the who”). It might seem like a small, insignificant detail, but when it comes to taking the results from the desk to actual actions, it is essential to understand the focus and incentives of your internal (and external) stakeholders.

Relevant examples of questions you can ask students during their education is divided into the following educational steps:

Example: I am satisfied with the communication I have received from {org} since I enrolled.
Example: My first time at {org} has lived up to the expectations I had before I started.
Example: I am on a continuous basis receiving feedback that I can use to improve as a student.
Example: I expect to use the academic skills I've acquired at {org} in my future career/education.
Example: To what extent have the skill set acquired at the {org} impacted your career?

How to improve student response rates?

To improve student response rates, you need to consider 5 elements of student surveying. Below you will find an overview of what you need to consider to increase student response rates.

Access to the student survey

To ensure high student response rates, it’s important to have a clear plan for how students will access your student survey and needs to be easy for them to do so.
Length of surveys
When you ask questions to students, it’s understandable that you might want to ask as many questions as possible. However, limiting the amount of questions has proven to yield better results.
Timing of distributing surveys to the students
If you are looking for effective strategies for student surveys, you need to consider the phase the students are in. The student questions need to be relevant, but you also need to send out the surveys at the right time and phase.
Student feedback cycle
The 5 strategies for effective student surveys all follow the same student feedback cycle. In order to achieve an effective student survey, we recommend that these 3 steps are considered:
Preparation & Collection
Analysis & Visualisation
Action & Feedback
For more information, make sure to read our student survey guide, with more details about the 5 strategies for effective student surveys.

How does StudentPulse work?

StudentPulse is an automated student analytic platform that, by sending monthly microsurveys to your students, can give you a full overview of your student's experience.
The platform maps out which drivers perform less optimally, and we even provide you with recommended actions to improve on the drivers.

Can it compare on programme or class level?

Yes - our student feedback platform will compare the student feedback on programme or class level to give you the full overview of the student journey. The student heatmaps are accessible on the platform, and can be shared with colleagues internally to see how each programme and class compares to each other.

Will the student feedback platform be able to monitor response rates?

Yes - the platform monitors response rates, completions rates, opening rates and other relevant information about the survey. Everything is easily accessible on the platform, and will give you an overview of the survey performance in real-time.

When will I be able to see the results on the platform?

The StudentPulse student feedback platform works in real-time. That means that you will be able to see the results of your student surveys seconds after a student has submitted their student feedback. This enables you to act on any potential issues areas while the problems occur. This is what we believe is a dynamic student feedback system!

How do the students get access to the student microsurveys?

Students get access to the student survey via a unique link or through a QR-code that is shared in the classroom, on campus, by email/SMS or by your LMS system.
